In September 2009, K9Sports of Tennessee announced our new Adopt-A-Shelter program.
At each K9Sports of TN trial/test we will be adopting a local shelter or rescue group in and around Davidson county or the surrounding counties. We are asking exhibitors to help us help our local shelters by bringing something on the adopted shelter’s wish list. It doesn’t have to be a lot because every little bit helps!
How to apply
If you have a shelter or rescue group you would like us to consider adopting please e-mail your request to Vickie Tillman at VLTillman@comcast.net with “ADOPT-A-SHELTER application” in the SUBJECT LINE. In the body of your email please include:
- name, e-mail and phone number for contact person
- information regarding your organization
- a list of items needed
Also include whether someone will be available to pick up the donated items the last day of the event. If there is an emergency situation, please state that in the body of the email.
Last Chance Pet Rescue, Inc has been chosen as the current K9Sports of TN Adopt-A-Shelter program recipient. We will be taking up donations at the USDAA trial Sept 30-Oct 2 weekend held at Williamson County Ag Expo Center in Franklin. Please bring an item to put it in the collection bin at the show.
Last Chance Pet Rescue Inc, is a private, non-profit 501c3 company, formed by Jackie Hale and friends to provide the animals taken in by the City of Dickson and Dickson County Animal Control agencies, literally, a last chance at life. These facilities are not open to the public and do not have adoption programs. Therefore, the animals that are held in the facilities, if not reclaimed by their owners or rescued, are euthanized, as quickly as 3 days at times. Last Chance Pet Rescue visits these facilities twice weekly, takes photos of the animals available and begins the process to attempt to save their lives! They post the pictures on Petfinder and submit them to other private rescues to see if they can save them. Theyalso foster and adopt out as many of these animals as possible.
During these trying economic times, Last Chance Pet Rescue is receiving many requests for pet food. Owners in financial stress are having trouble feeding their pets and we would love to be able to help. Donations of food will be distributed to private individuals so they can continue to care for their pets rather than them having to give them up.
Your generous donations are greatly appreciated and much needed.
